Designatory Letters (Post-nominals)

What they are

EIPIO grants designatory letters to recognise professional standing in intelligence practice:

  • MEIPIO — Member of the European Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers

  • FEIPIO — Fellow of the European Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers

Who may use them

Members and Fellows in good standing (fees paid, Code of Ethics observed) may use these letters after their name on CVs, LinkedIn, email signatures, conference bios, and publications.

How to write them
  • Format: Name, MEIPIO (Member) or Name, FEIPIO (Fellow).

  • Order with other credentials: State honours → degrees → professional memberships (MEIPIO/FEIPIO) → licenses/certifications.

  • Do not alter or translate the letters (no “M-EIPIO”, no local language variants).

Verification

Employers and partners can verify current status on our Public Register of Members and Fellows (link: /members/register). Only current entries are authorised to use the letters.

Lapsed/retired status
  • Lapsed members must cease using the letters immediately.

  • Retired members in good standing may use: Name, MEIPIO (Ret.) or FEIPIO (Ret.).

  • Suspended/revoked status: letters must not be used.

Digital badges & certificates

EIPIO issues verifiable digital badges and printable certificates. Badges link to a live verification page and should not be edited or re-hosted.

Misuse

Unauthorised or misleading use of MEIPIO/FEIPIO breaches our policy and may lead to disciplinary action and withdrawal of membership.
