Eligibility Requirements

Eligible Professional Background

Current or former role in one of the following fields:

• National intelligence services

• Defence/intelligence agencies

• Law enforcement intelligence units

• Border and customs intelligence

• Private-sector competitive intelligence

• Security consulting

• Think-tank analysis related to intelligence or strategic affairs

• Prior service (i.e.. emeritus counts; your service does not need to be current)

• NOTE: Business intelligence, as distinct from competitive intelligence is considered software experience, not intelligence experience, and will not be counted to membership thresholds.

Minimum of 3 years in an intelligence-related position (or equivalent consultancy/advisory role).

No unresolved disciplinary actions, no criminal record.

How to Apply

1. Click “Apply Now” above

   This will simply provide you an email address to apply (not a payment page).

2. Submit the Following Documents

   • Curriculum Vitae detailing your intelligence-related roles and responsibilities.

   • Application Letter explaining why you wish to join and how you’ll contribute to the Institute.

   • Referee Details for two professional contacts of good standing within the intelligence community, or current EIPIO members.

3. Review & Vetting

   • Our Membership Committee will verify your background and contact your referee.

   • Upon successful vetting, you will receive an official Acceptance Letter, Member Number, and a Payment Link.

4. Membership Fee

   • After acceptance and Payment Processing, you will receive a valid tax an invoice for the annual membership fee.

   • Payment Links expire after 30 days.

Referee Policy

“Nobody can just ‘join’ without being vetted and refereed.”

Standard Requirement:

One referee who is already a member of the Institute

Startup Exception:

Founding Cohort: For our first 50 charter members, you may instead supply:

• Two referees from within the eligible professional community, or current EIPIO member/s

We need professionals to vouch for you before we grow our membership base. It keeps the bar high as befits a professional Institute.

AIPIO Affiliate

Minimum of 15 years in an intelligence-related position (or equivalent consultancy/advisory role).

Fellow Experience

Every application must comprise CV, Application Letter in which years of sector experience is provided, and details of 2 sector referees or existing members.
