Applications are vetted. Membership Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and should include a max 2.page CV, 1-page motivation letter explaining your relevant professional claim to Institute membership, and one professional referee we may contact to confirm your claim.

Eligible Professional Background

Current or former role in one of the following fields:

National intelligence services
Defence/intelligence agencies
Law enforcement intelligence units
Border and customs intelligence
Private-sector competitive intelligence
Security consulting
Think-tank analysis related to intelligence or strategic affairs
Prior service (i.e.. emeritus counts; your service does not need to be current)
NOTE: Business intelligence, as distinct from competitive intelligence is considered software experience, not intelligence experience, and will not be counted to membership thresholds.

Minimum of 3 years in an intelligence-related position (or equivalent consultancy/advisory role).

No unresolved disciplinary actions or unresolved security clearances.

Submit the Following Documents
- Curriculum Vitae detailing your intelligence-related roles and responsibilities.
- Cover Letter explaining why you wish to join and how you’ll contribute to the Institute.
- Referee Details for one professional contact within the intelligence community.
Review & Vetting
- Our Membership Committee will verify your background and contact your referee.
- Upon successful vetting, you will receive an official Acceptance Letter.
Membership Fee
- After acceptance, we’ll send you an invoice for the annual membership fee.
- Payment must be completed within 30 days to activate your membership.

Referee Policy

“Nobody can just ‘join’ without being vetted and refereed.”

Standard Requirement:

One referee who is already a member of the Institute

Startup Exception:

Founding Cohort: For our first 50 charter members, you may instead supply:

One external referee (a direct supervisor or senior colleague in the intelligence field), plus
One Founding Sponsor (any member of our Launch Advisory Board)

Why?

We need someone on our side to vouch for you before we grow our membership base. It keeps the bar high while allowing us to onboard the first cohort.
